Sicily: Fall 2009

We had an amazing time in Sicily, “the island in the sun” this past fall. Situated between Italy and North Africa, Sicily is the largest region in Italy and the biggest island in the Mediterranean. Dominated for more than 2000 years by ancient rulers, each culture left its mark and thereby created a rich historical and gastronomic heritage. Sicily is now also one of the biggest wine producing areas in Europe.

While there, we toured prehistoric tombs, Greek theatres, temples and baroque towns, and one of the most famous volcanos in the world "Mt. Etna".

One cannot describe Sicily without remembering the crystal clear turquoise waters, dramatic rocky cliffs and beautiful beaches that comprise its shoreline. This is a trip our group will not soon forget. We truly ate and drank like royalty. Check out the photos to see what we experienced. Hope to see you in Italy next fall.
